In the presence of Peter Senge, the author of The Fifth Discipline, seize the relevance today of the messages of the great learners and authors Alain de Vulpian and Arie de Geus (1). What words, methods and messages have they conveyed to us? What are the signs of their presence in our society today? How can each of us be present in these movements of metamorphosis for a living and shared world? Let us enter into a dance between I and We. Let’s connect to support and grow our intentions to transform the world around us. 

The future of education will be our main focus. When considered deeply, this imperative to re-invent how we learn, individually and collectively, binds all our institutions, from schools to business, governmental and non-organizations.  But there is a reason to focus on education, especially primary and secondary education.  Deep problems require long term solutions.  Children of today will be tomorrow the engineers, businesspeople, government officials, parents and leaders in the adaptation to the high ecological, environmental, politic and social critical issues of the XXIst century.  

While business and government are the most powerful institutions, education is the only mainstream institution with a 50-75 year time horizon school.  Rather than seeing school as an institution of the state doomed to simply preserve the status quo, what can we learn from education innovators?  What might we learn if we really listen to the children and young people at the center of these changes – after all, they are far more tied to the future than adults ever can be, even though they are supposedly in control. What are the present educational responses to today’s unprecedented challenges, from COVID to climate change and inequity? Who are the pioneer organizations? Our vision is to get inspired by the initiatives of remarkable people and teams and to become more connected to and supportive of them after the meeting.

We invite people who are engaged in Education for Life to join, share experience, learn and connect: educators, students, teams and leaders of change, facilitators and coaches, social entrepreneurs…

The hosts are Irène Dupoux-Couturier for Happymorphose and Etienne Collignon for The Learning Person.

Happymorphose is an association which aims to link organizations working for the emergence of a living and complex society making its way to a humanist metamorphosis.

The Learning Person is an organization that creates and disseminates learning methods for a sustainable world.

The project is supported by the Université Catholique de Lille. From its very beginnings in 1875, what is now France’s largest private, not-for-profit university has distinguished itself within the fields of higher education, research, and health, through its commitment to mutual care as a central value.

The intention
In the presence of Peter Senge, the author of The Fifth Discipline Education Book, and the inspiration of remarkable innovations in education, let’s go in search of the relevance today of the messages of Alain de Vulpian and Arie de Geus (1).

What words, methods and messages have they conveyed to us? What are the signs of their presence in our society today? How can each of us be present in these movements of metamorphosis for a living and shared world? What learning forward can we gain, amplify and apply across our networks of education innovators in all parts of society?

We invite people who are engaged in innovating Education for Life to join, share experience, learn and connect: educators, students, teams and leaders of change, facilitators and coaches, social entrepreneurs, living companies executives. The hosts are Irène Dupoux-Couturier for Happymorphose and Etienne Collignon for The Learning Person. Happymorphose is an association which aims to link organizations working for the emergence of a living and complex society making its way to a humanist metamorphosis. The Learning Person is an organization that creates and disseminates learning methods for a sustainable world.

Our exploration
We will address several strong concepts and methods that we have received from Alain de Vulpian and Arie de Geus; what is the meaning of words like “weak signals, scenarios, learning together, socio-perceptive leaders,the living society, the leadership of ordinary men and women, and humanist metamorphosis? Why and how these humanist processes focusing on the future are efficient and successful?

Then, participants will be organized around “learning journeys.” Everyone will be invited to observe the presence and strength of these concepts and methods in practice – by traveling remotely to remarkable organizations that are active in Education for a Living System in a variety of places around the world. These hosts may be schools, educators who work with young people beyond school, an association, or a social entrepreneurs programme; they have in common fostering a systems perspective, compassion and deeper human development, doing this in action in diverse and challenging circumstances, and a strong desire to share and connect with others. These hosts are willing to put their organization at the heart of the discussions, and to welcome other people from all over the
world in shared reflection on their experiences. Back in the plenary session, participants will co-elaborate new steps for action.

Le lieu
Une centaine de participants se retrouveront au Forum 104, situé au centre de Paris, dans une salle ouverte sur un magnifique jardin. Notre conversation comprendra plusieurs centaines de personnes du monde entier en connexion distante.

L’intention
En présence de Peter Senge, l’auteur de The Fifth Discipline Education Book, et l’inspirateur de remarquables innovations en éducation, partons à la recherche de la pertinence aujourd’hui des messages d’Alain de Vulpian et Arie de Geus (1).

Quels mots, méthodes et messages nous ont-ils transmis ? Quels sont les signes de leur présence dans notre société aujourd’hui ? Comment chacun de nous peut-il être présent dans ces mouvements de métamorphose pour un monde vivant et partagé ? Quel apprentissage pouvons-nous acquérir, amplifier et appliquer à travers nos réseaux
d’innovateurs en éducation dans tous les secteurs de la société ?

Entrons dans une danse entre Je et Nous. Connectons-nous pour soutenir et développer nos intentions de transformer le monde qui nous entoure.

Observer le futur de l’éducation dans notre monde émergent sera notre principal objectif. Considéré en profondeur, cet impératif de réinventer notre façon d’apprendre, individuellement et collectivement, lie toutes nos institutions, des écoles aux entreprises, gouvernementales ou non. Mais il y a une raison de se concentrer sur l’éducation, en particulier l’enseignement primaire et secondaire, mais aussi dans les universités. Les problèmes profonds nécessitent des solutions à long terme. Les enfants d’aujourd’hui seront demain les ingénieurs, les hommes d’affaires, les gouvernants, les parents et les leaders de l’adaptation aux grands enjeux écologiques, environnementaux, politiques et sociaux du XXIe siècle.

Alors que l’éducation pour le système vivant touche tous les aspects et secteurs de nos vies, les entreprises et le gouvernement étant les institutions les plus puissantes, l’éducation est la seule institution traditionnelle avec un horizon temporel de 50 à 75 ans. Plutôt que de voir l’école comme une institution de l’État condamnée à simplement préserver le statu quo, que pouvons-nous apprendre des innovateurs en éducation ? Où
sont-ils ? Quelles sont les organisations pionnières ? Que pourrions-nous apprendre si nous écoutions vraiment les enfants et les jeunes au centre de ces changements – après tout, ils sont beaucoup plus liés à l’avenir que les adultes ne peuvent jamais l’être. Quelles sont les réponses éducatives actuelles aux défis sans précédent d’aujourd’hui, du COVID au changement climatique et aux inégalités ? Notre vision est de nous inspirer des initiatives de personnes et d’équipes remarquables, de devenir plus connectés et de les soutenir après la réunion

Qui se réunit ?
Nous invitons les personnes engagées dans “l’éducation pour un système vivant” à nous rejoindre, partager les expériences, apprendre et se connecter : éducateurs, étudiants, équipes et leaders du changement, facilitateurs et coachs, entrepreneurs sociaux, cadres d’entreprises vivantes…
Les hôtes sont Irène Dupoux-Couturier pour Happymorphose et Etienne Collignon pour The Learning Person. Happymorphose est une association qui vise à mettre en relation des organisations œuvrant pour l’émergence d’une société vivante et complexe en route vers une métamorphose humaniste. The Learning Person est une organisation qui crée et diffuse des méthodes d’apprentissage pour un monde durable.

Notre exploration
Nous aborderons plusieurs concepts et méthodes forts que nous avons reçus d’Alain de Vulpian et d’Arie de Geus ; quel est le sens de mots comme scénarios, apprendre ensemble, leaders socioperceptifs, signaux faibles, société vivante, hommes et femmes ordinaires, métamorphose humaniste ? Pourquoi et comment ces démarches humanistes tournées vers le futur sont-elles vouées au succès?

Puis les participants seront organisés en « learning journeys ». Tout le monde sera invité à observer la présence et la force de ces concepts et méthodes dans la pratique en se rendant à distance dans des organisations remarquables qui sont actives dans l’éducation pour un système vivant dans une variété d’endroits à travers le monde. Ces hôtes peuvent être des écoles, des éducateurs qui travaillent avec des jeunes en dehors de l’école, une association ou un programme d’entrepreneurs sociaux ; ils ont en commun de favoriser une perspective systémique, la compassion et un développement humain plus profond, de le faire en action dans des circonstances diverses et difficiles, et un fort désir de partager et de se connecter avec les autres. Ces hôtes sont prêts à mettre leur organisation au cœur des discussions, et à accueillir d’autres personnes du monde entier dans une réflexion partagée sur leurs expériences. De retour en séance plénière, les participants co-élaboreront de nouvelles étapes d’action.
